HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud is a grandson of Ibn Saud, the first Saudi king, and Riad Al Solh, Lebanon's first Prime Minister. Graduating from Menlo College in Silicon Valley, he is the single largest shareholder of Citigroup, and controls a 5% stake in Twitter. Al-Waleed's philanthropy includes $27 million in aid to Palestinians in the city of Jenin in 2002 and $17 million to help victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Alwaleed has also sponsored the creation of a network of centers for Islamic study at Cambridge, Edinburgh, Georgetown, and Harvard universities, as well as at American University campuses in Beirut and Cairo. He also funded the training of the first Saudi woman to become a commercial airline pilot. In 2016 his foundation launched "Tweet for Heat" raising awareness and distributing winter supplies to Syrian refugees across Europe and the Middle East.
